The Talking Centipede

A chap decided life would be more fun if he had a pet.

So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet.

He finally bought a talking centipede which came in a little white box to use for his house.

He took the box back home, found a good spot for the box and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him.

So he asked the centipede in the box "Would you like to go to church with me today ? We will have a good time."

But there was no answer from his new pet.

This bothered him a bit but he waited a few minutes and then asked again "How about going to church with me and receive blessings ?"

But. again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet.

So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation.

He decided to invite the centipede one last time. This time, he put his face up against the centipede's house and shouted 'Hey, you in there ! Would you like to go to church with me and learn about God ?

This time, a little voice came out of the box 'Alright, alright, I heard you the first time ! I'm putting my shoes on !!'

Happy Mother's Day

Marion made me breakfast in bed, but instead of a cup of tea she gave me a mug of water!!

She gave me packets of seeds and gardening gloves and made some cards and pulled up my flowers from the garden.

I've had a lovely day just relaxing and chilling. For dinner it's roast chicken, mini corn cobs, asparagus, parmentier potatoes and a bottle of sparkling elderflower.

A Couple of Cards

I haven't really been stitching much since my winter fob finish, but I have been making a few cards.

I've also been doing a little bit of knitting, which I'm going to auction off once it's finished towards a charity. I'm hoping to do that every couple of months and send the money to a different charity each time.

So I'm off now to do a bit of stitching, I signed up yesterday to take part in a bookmark exchange over on Facebook
which I'm looking forward to.

Winter Fob Finish

Lizzie Kate Winter Fob Kit with scissors
Stitched on 28 ct fabric with WDW and DMC threads

Started 12/03/11 and finished 17/03/11

I really enjoyed stitching this piece. I will get it finished into a fob at some stage before the Winter, but for the time being it's going into the finishing folder.

I'm not sure what to start next, but it's going to be something small and quick to keep me in the mood.

A New Start

This is how far I got last night on the Lizzie Kate fob kit I bought myself for Christmas and these cute little scissors were included. I ordered the WDW threads from DSL and they arrived on Friday. I also needed 3 DMC's and of course I don't have them, otherwise this would be finished tonight. I'll get them at the craft shop tomorrow when I'm out and then I fancy sitting down after dinner and doing nothing but stitching.

ABC, 123, ATC

I actually took part last month in an ATC group swap. The design was given to us in either cross stitch or blackwork. I decided to do the cross stitch one and I've stitched it in yellow in Satin DMC.

Haven't Been Around For Personal Reasons

It has been a very sad year for me so far this year. My Grandad, always a healthy man, has been in and out of hospital due to catheter blockages and the fact that the home haven't been caring for him properly.

The hospital looked after him well enough in January, sent him back to the home and less than 24 hours later he was back in hospital because they couldn't cope with him. This is where he stayed, basically dying due to lack of care. All they were interested in was getting the bed back.

Mine is the yellow posie

We managed to get him into a hospice and they were appalled at the state the hospital had sent him in, his catheter was blocked, he was in terrible pain and as a result he was very poorly. The following day he died of septicemia (blood poisoning) :( We were told that had he gone to the hospice home a week or even a few days earlier he would probably still be alive because they would have done a blood transfusion.

RAF Spitfire from my Cousin

His funeral was on Wednesday. It was a lovely cold, sunny day and the service went well. Marion was such a brave little girl, she's going to miss him a lot, as am I.

I am going to go and do a little stitching now and perhaps get back to some normality from now on.

My Little Cleopatra

Here she is for Egyptian Day today.

The cartouche with her name on it. I can't lay claim to this make, my Mum made it as she had the little hieroglyphic alphabet cards. She had lots of comments about it at school and was very proud of it :)

Yoghurt Maker

(yes I realise the vodka bottle doesn't fit in this picture of healthy!!!)

I have been looking at the EasiYo yoghurt maker for quite a while now and have ummed over it. Yesterday it was on QVC and my darling little daughter decided she wanted me to buy one.

We get through a lot of yoghurt between the 2 of us and I just thought that perhaps if this was good stuff (tasty) it might be cheaper in the long run. Each sachet makes up a litre of yoghurt, which lasts 2 weeks and is full of the good bacteria.

I decided to pop out to Lakeland and get a starter kit this morning and as I was driving along passing MacArthur Glen I suddenly remembered Jennie telling me that Julian Graves sells them and thought there was one there, so I went round the roundabout and popped in to see. Yes they did, I bought one and 2 sachets of yoghurt in cherry and wild berries. As soon as I got home I made up the cherry, so now I just have to wait until 11pm to see whether it's thickened up and tastes nice.

While I was there I decided to pop along to Alfreton and nip into the craft shop. I just picked up a couple of small packs of aida, nothing else took my fancy. So I only spent £2.25 in the craft shop!!!

Finished Card

The piece of stitching I finished the other day is now made up into a card and for sale here.

It's been a cold, wet depressing day today starting off with walking to school and me mentioning that she hadn't had her letter about passing her swimming certificate upon where I receive the reply that she's been told she's already got it. I asked what she meant and she said that she'd been told yesterday that she has already got Goldfish 2, to which I replied that she definitely hasn't got it because all her badges to date are on her towel and why would the instructor be making her do a badge that she's already received.

When we got to school I mentioned it to the ta who said that it was right, that's what Marion and Honor had done and she didn't hand out a letter as she already has it. Honor piped up and said that her letter says she's passed Goldfish 2. When we got to swimming the instructor said that both girls had passed Goldfish 2 and the others in their group Goldfish 1.

So why do we still have no letter home when it's a pre written letter and it would only take 1 minute to write the child's name on and date it? On Friday Marion will be the only one in her class not receiving a swimming badge and getting herself upset about it when it's not her fault. So do I put the £1.50 in an envelope and hand it in tomorrow with the details written on it and not bother waiting for a letter?

On top of that we found out today that the hospital haven't written up any notes on Grandad, they're not sure why he's on a drip so they've taken him off it, he's not on any medication because they don't know what he needs and the Sister that Mum spoke to last night said she wasn't aware he had this bug thing. She basically said that she didn't even know why he was there at all, but she couldn't check his notes as the doctors were in a meeting and they had all patients notes with them.

So we just have to wait and see what happens when Mum calls later on demanding a doctor returns her call with the answers to her questions.
