Happy Birthday to ME :)

Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday to me
I am now for-tee-ee
Happy Birthday to me!!

Yes on the 30th September 1971 I arrived in the world.

My daughter came in bouncing on top of me screaming Happy Birthday Mummy! (honestly I've been deaf ever since lol) and then gave me a card and my present - a beautiful tiered jewellery box (will take a photo later and show another day) and then I opened the card from my parents.

It was time to get ready for school and I promised her I wouldn't open any other cards or presents until she was back in from school.

My parents then took me to Comet and Curry's to pick out the tv they were buying me for my present. It's a nice Samsung 32" flat screen LED and with that the came the glass tv table. Haven't taken it out the box yet, we will do that later on.

We had a 'do it yourself' chinese meal for dinner, which was delicious and then I opened my cards and opened this beautiful gift from Sally I LOVE IT. Thank you so much Sally :)

There are plans for the weekend, I have to pack a dress and my swimsuit and we're staying overnight, but that's all I'm privvy to just now. So I'm off to pack and have another glass of champagne.

Book Card

This card is called a 'book-a-tricks'. I've never made one before and found it quite challenging. I'm very pleased with it though.

Been Given the ALL CLEAR

When my Aunt was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few years ago, my Mum went for genetic testing at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London for blood tests and they informed the genetic testing hospital in Nottingham about me. After discussing my family history for over 2 hours on the phone I was told that from the age of 40 I would have to go and get a mammogram.

My letter from Kings Mill Hospital came through at the beginning of August for an appointment on 7th September. I was a little nervous and my parents decided to stay an extra day to take me, I think because my letter said the test would last at least half an hour and Mum said that whenever she's had hers, she's been out in 5 minutes.

Off we went into the women's health section and I was seen almost straight away. It hurt on one side and really made me feel sick, but I was walking back towards the car 4 minutes later and I was told I would have the results within the week and then went to Morrisons for breakfast.

The week didn't happen, it was 2 weeks ago today that I had the test and the letter has come through ALL CLEAR. I now have to go every year for the rest of my life.

Another Pirate

This is the other card we were going to make last week, but didn't get time. This is a slider card, the Birthday Boy at the bottom slides from side to side.

I can't decide whether to give this one to Tommy or the other one, but I have until February to decide!!!

Pirate Ahoy!

Doesn't craft class day come round so quickly these days. Pirate theme, this is the front of the card.

This is the inside of the card. I've never made a stacker card before, but I'll definitely be making more in the future.

End of an Era

The car (named Herbie by Marion) was bought brand new 20 years ago by Mum and I've had it for the last 8 years, but it's old and tired and bits have been falling off (or nicked) and we decided it was time for me to have something newer and more reliable that doesn't leak in the winter. Last Monday we were looking around and went into a Citroen dealer to ask for directions. Three hours later we came out having purchased a new car.

I was adamant that I wanted nothing to do with a red car, something with only 2 doors or no air conditioning, so of course I ended up with a red two door car without air conditioning. It's a Citroen C1 VTR and two years old.

Gale force winds almost stopped me from going to collect it this afternoon and I must say that I was sad to see Herbie go and nervous and of course excited at the same time. I'm excited to a new life with a fun car.

Time Flies

It has been quite a while since I last blogged, I've been busy decorating Marion's bedroom. She's had freshly painted walls, new carpet, new bed, shelves, bedside table and the wardrobe is in boxes waiting to be put together, Dad and I just ran out of time on Tuesday afternoon.

She was 9 on 30th August and she wanted to go to Rufford Park, so that's where we went. She was a little grumpy when we got there, but her wobbly tooth was annoying her. It didn't stay in for long, it came out while we were having a cream tea just after we got there and then little miss cheerful came out to play and she had a fantastic time.

Late in the evening we went out to the front and set off the Chinese lantern I'd bought for her.

This morning Mum and I went to craft class and left her ladyship snoring her head off in her comfy new bed and my Dad reading his book.

We had a good time and this is the shelf card we made, it was making all of us hungry all morning lol.
