It was parents evening today for all of the 5 minutes I was in there.

When I was a kid reading was about reading. Not now, oh no you need to be able to determine the mind of the author. Why did the author write the book in that way? Well my interpretation of the reasoning behind it isn't going to be the same as yours, so there is no right and wrong answer, but no matter what only the author knows why they wrote the book the way they did so why ask?

And no this isn't high school, this is primary school (elementary school) and you're 9 years old. You're also immature and you play games - yes I was told she's immature and she plays games. Outside of our life here, when we're at the happiest place in our life, we are out with mature grown ups and rarely any kids are around, no they're tucked up in bed at 7pm, while we're out dancing and at sophisticated dinner parties where the grown ups are old enough to be my parents (actually 2 of them are my parents) and in some cases my grandparents.
All of whom have said how nice it is to have such an intelligent mature young lady as their guest.

One couple told my parents that they thought she was a delight and they'd had a wonderful intelligent adult conversation with her, that their own grandchildren all in their teens would have sulked and moaned at having to be away from their nintendo's, ipods, Facebook or whatever for more than half an hour and that they would never have been able to have such a conversation with any of them.

So now we can only come to the conclusion that a child isn't allowed to be a child anymore, we all know that as fact thanks to the government demands. They're not supposed to have a childhood and learn through playing games. No they are forced into adulthood far too early and that is why so many of the teenagers nowadays are drug addicted vandals.

Education is not about the individual child's abilities any longer, nor does the age of the child get taken into account, it's all about league tables and being the best school.

OK I will get off my soapbox now, it's the immature comment that has pissed me off the most about parents evening, the rest of it was fine.

Cluck Cluck

Blackwork Easter chicks. One of my favourite things to do is stitch blackwork. Freebie, but I can't find the link at the moment.

It was craft class this morning, I had such a headache when I woke up I didn't think I was going to be able to concentrate but we had fun and made a really lovely card. Will take a photo and post about it tomorrow.

Ladybird part 2

She noticed that it had gone from where it had been all last week and said: Ladybird has disappeared.
Me: oh yes, must have fallen off.
M: Yep the poo dried up and it fell off.

She is such a funny girl, I was chuckling for ages.

Lace Hankie Card

I made this card at class on Tuesday and I love it. There was a lot of cutting involved and lots of concentration, but lots of conversation too.

Most of them made it for Mother's Day, but I decided I would rather do it for her birthday in May, so inside is the birthday sentiment.

When we got home this afternoon she looked up just above the front door and the conversation went like this:

M: ladybird
Me: I know it's been up there all week
M: probably dead
Me: if it was dead it would fall off surely
M: it probably did a poo and it's stuck to it

OK So my Easter giveaway wasn't successful, so I've withdrawn it and my daughter and I will just eat the chocolate ourselves.

The day went ok yesterday with MIL, she came with Marion's cousin Hanna, there's 11 weeks difference in age and they got on well laughing and playing their nintendo's together. We went to the Toby carvery and had a really nice meal and then we went off to Rufford Park, the girls had a fantastic time running round burning off energy.

When they left we were both shattered and she got her blanket, wrapped it round her and fell asleep on the rug.

I'm hoping to do some stitching today, but I'm not sure as I've got a bit of a headache and I feel a little sick too.

Going to finish off a game on facebook with her and then sit and watch a film.

Red Rose Card

Happy St David's Day to everyone who celebrates the Patron Saint of Wales.

twisted pyramid card, I love this one.

My ex MIL is coming on Saturday, whether she will be bringing my daughter's cousin with her is a mystery, so I suppose we will wait and find out on the day. Of course I'm sure that when my daughter suggests where she wants to go we will be told no.

So today and tomorrow will be spent trying to make the downstairs of the house look like a show home without a spec of dust and nothing out of place - ha like that will ever happen, this house looks lived in. It will be tidy enough while my back holds out, it aches when I've been bending too much these days. Must be my age!!
